Frequently asked questions

I am new to therapy. What is it like?

First off, congratulations on taking positive steps towards investing in yourself! Therapy can be a powerful tool in your life. Traditional psychotherapy (talk therapy) in the mental health field has existed in western psychology since about 1880. However, the principles behind talking to someone to receive healing has existed across cultures indefinitely. The goal of talk therapy as I know it is to provide an unconditionally supportive space for you each week to process and explore your emotions and thoughts while working toward your life values and dreams.

I always tell my new patients to show up as themselves; I will guide the sessions until you feel more familiar with the format of therapy.

Where are sessions held?

Right now I provide telemedicine services using a HIPPA compliant platform. In person services are located in Flatiron, NYC on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.

How often do we meet?

Typically we will start with weekly sessions. Each treatment plan is tailored to the individual.

How long will I need therapy for?

This question is dependent on the person. If you are coming to therapy to solve a specific problem, we may meet for 6-12 sessions which is considered short term therapy. Most of my clients meet on a more long term basis to receive the effects of a long term supportive provider and work through problems over time.

If you are here to receive ART only and already have an outside talk therapist, we will meet until your symptoms have decreased in a way that meets your needs. I welcome collaboration with your outside therapist.
