I am trained in a rapid eye movement trauma therapy called Acceleration Resolution Therapy (ART) which is an effective treatment that is known for providing rapid results.
ART works by changing the way a painful memory is stored in the brain through rapid eye movements which are highly calming. It works by exposing your brain to the problem image and then subsequently desensitizing you to the sensations the memory brings up. By the end of the session you will not only feel differently after seeing your problem image, but you will have voluntarily replaced the negative images with positive ones. You won't forget the facts of the memory, just the images and sensations that used to come up before the session.
One great benefit is that you don't have to talk out loud about the trauma; you have complete control over the process. I am here as a guide walking you through the protocol.
Follow the link below for a full list of issues that ART treats:
Typically meeting once per week, I provide a supportive space for us to discuss what issues you are presenting with and how to target them. Sometimes I will provide goals or objectives for you to work on between sessions. Unless we discuss a specific approach, I use a blend of psychodynamic and behavioral modalities. I am trained formally in Motivational Interviewing and Dialectical Behavior Therapy*.
*The standard DBT protocol includes 4 components: individual therapy, skills group, telephone coaching, and therapist case consultation. Please know that I cannot provide an adherent DBT program through my practice. Any DBT I provide is adapted to 1:1 individual psychotherapy. If you need a standard DBT program I am happy to refer you to one!
Working through relationship difficulties is challenging, but completely attainable with hard work and effective tools in couples therapy. I treat communication issues, infidelity, and addiction in one or both partners. Typically, the relationship has emotionally split; each partner is living in their own world, caught up in their own point of view, unable to hear the other's.
I use principles from the Gottman Method to help you communicate and resolve issues. My services include a complimentary Gottman Relationship Assessment.
